Management affiliation Management In chapter four in the text by Tompkins, the highlights the strategies used in coordinating activities (Tompkins, 2005). These activities fall under the duties of the management. However, in the general duties of management in most texts, articles and journals these strategies are omitted. In words by Tompkins (2005) coordinating activities require well formulated mechanisms that have been implemented before and are successful. The authors highlight the fact that there are few case studies highlighting effective mechanism of coordinating activities as put in chapter 4. In this chapter, Tompkins gives six mechanisms of coordinating activities.
The six mechanisms highlight the most effective ways of controlling, coordinating and managing work activities. He also highlights the importance of the proper implementation of these mechanisms (Tompkins, 2005). For instance, the authors cite the importance of an effective human resource team in implementing these mechanisms as Tompkins dwells much on this strategy in chapter 4 on his text.
On this point, Tompkins highlights the importance of having well satisfied employees. This requirement is the only way a management team can have successful implementation strategies. To create a good human resource team, Tompkins argues that employee motivation is the best tool to achieve this particular objective (Tompkins, 2005). The strategy on employee motivation is part of the four management theories Tompkins highlighted. Proper awarding systems are required to create an organizational culture that an employee feels obligated and comfortable to work in (Tompkins, 2005).
