Network Routing 3 Discussion Questions Static vs. Dynamic Routing Static routing is not recommended because it is manually constructed, which makes it difficult to handle failures in the external networks. The two types of Dynamic Routing protocols entail the Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) and the Exterior Gateway Protocols (EGR) (Doyle & Carroll, 2006). The difference between the two is that the IGP allows each system on the internet to select its own routing procedure while the EGR is used on different systems. The commonly used routing protocol on Cisco routers is the EGR that facilitates systems to use procedures from different systems, depending with the requirements (Doyle & Carroll, 2006). This enables the router to select the suitable network route destination, which gives it the capacity to adapt to logical alterations.
2. Static vs. Dynamic IP Address
The difference between Static and Dynamic IP Addresses is the flexibility nature of the two IP addresses. This is because Static IP Address does not adapt to changes, unlike Dynamic that suits the variations (Doyle & Carroll, 2006). As a result, I would use the Dynamic IP Address over Static because it assigns an IP Address to networks that operate effectively. However, Static IP Address is better is a user is accommodating a server or when numerous external devices or websites have to retain the IP address (Doyle & Carroll, 2006).
3. Encryption Support for e-Commerce
Encryption keys can be used to support secure communications for e-commerce through the SSL that provides a safe control between the two machines functioning over an internal network. This is effective because the SSL and server certificates run over the traditional IP protocols to allow for the spread of encrypted data. The SSL and server certificates can also enhance software coding application communication channels like emails.
