Effective Global Leadership al Affiliation: Effective Global Leadership Global leadership is all about facing or being in charge of people or organizations across the borders whereby diverse cultures, economic and legal systems are involved. Moreover, it is about a leader being in a position of operating in multiple environmental settings so as to attain a common corporate goal. Ethical, servant and authentic leadership models are successfully used in various organizations, nations and cultures (Hughes, Ginnett & Curphy, 2012).Thus, they qualify to be effective global leadership models because of the following reasons:
Global leadership entails qualities that enable a leader to distinguish the things that are unpopular, inconvenient and unprofitable in line of service. Moreover, these leaders view the entire world as interconnected and thus they end up developing multidisciplinary solutions that are meant to address complicated problems in day to day life. These qualities are ethical in nature.
A global leader is considered one with relational transparency, internalized morality and self-awareness. Relational transparency in a leader enables him or her to openly share his thoughts, beliefs and ideas without any emotions attached. Internalized morality is a positive ethical base of which a leader must adhere to for the sake of resisting pressure from the outside. Self-awareness is a continuous process of reflection whereby a leader re-examines his or her capabilities to lead (Mendenhall, 2008). Therefore, authentic model of leadership qualifies to fall under global leadership because it entails these qualities.
Global leadership requires a leader to share power, give priority to the needs of others and be a steward (hold resources for greater good of the society). These qualities form a typical servant leader. Thus, servant leadership model qualifies to be a global leadership model.
Therefore, global leadership model entails all the qualities or rather characteristics of servant, ethical and authentic models of leadership.
