In addition, employers are finding that they need to discover new methods of motivating their workforce towards excellence in order to maintain and retain a skilled and qualified pool of labor. As such, there are constantly new areas relative to work motivation theory that can be studied, researched, and later applied within the context to today’s workplace (Kanfer, 2009). One area that can be focused on in future research related endeavors relates to the way that cultural diversity impacts the levels of motivation within any given workplace. In addition, it would be helpful to conduct further research into the various ways the regional economic conditions impact the motivation that employees possess to excel in their respective professions. The first topic is of particular interest because the world, even as the population continues to rapidly increase, is seemingly growing smaller and more intimate. As such, research is needed to provide leaders in business with that they need to be able to identify the various needs that their employees have, in terms of their background, and then work to provide them with resources that they will require to be both motivated and successful in the long term.
