P.O.W.E.R Profile – Essay Example

P.O.W.E.R. Profile P.O.W.E.R. Profile Upon completion of my P.O.W.E.R. Profile, the results have shown that I have exhibited high scores in the areas of self-understanding, note taking, technology, and relationships where I generated 19 as scores. On the other hand, I realized that I was weakest in writing and speaking where the score that I generated was only 15. The lessons learned from the concepts discussed in Chapter 1 (Becoming a Successful Student) (Feldman, 2011) are very useful in terms of enabling me to focus on areas that would assist in improving my academic performance.
In accomplishing the ‘Try It’ exercises, for instance, I was made more aware of the reasons why I am going to college (I want to get a good job when I graduate) and to explicitly state my goals (both personal, short-term, long-term, and course goals). These are instrumental in setting appropriate strategies that would guide me towards the accomplishment of what I have defined. I realized that although there are external factors that could impinge and prevent me to achieve these goals, in the end, it is still I who is in charge of my life, and of attaining what I have earmarked to achieve.
In sum, the P.O.W.E.R. Profile has provided an accurate picture of my strengths and weaknesses and therefore has given me the information I need to improve on areas that are apparently weak, through the strategies revealed in the chapter. Through preparation, organization, work, evaluation and re-thinking, I would be able to improve my academic performance and could apply these strategies in endeavors that I would delve into in the near future.
